Solix Technologies Announces Data Management Solutions for Enterprises Moving Towards Private Cloud Infrastructure

Santa Clara, CA (14 February, 2011) Solix Technologies, a leading provider of enterprise data management solutions, today announced cloud enabling solutions for enterprises wanting to transition to cloud based infrastructure or services. Solix solutions for the cloud will be based on Solix Enterprise Data Management Suite 5.0 (Solix EDMS), the most comprehensive product for Application Retirement and Solix ExAPPS, Industry’s First Application Retirement Appliance.

According to Gartner, “Through 2014, IT organizations will spend more money on private-cloud-computing investments than on offerings from public cloud providers. In many ways, the core of private cloud computing is the intersection of a maturing virtualization trend and the rapidly growing cloud-computing trend. Done well, it will help an IT organization deliver services much faster to its customers, and will open up an easier path to leverage public-cloud-computing solutions, if and when they mature.”

While cloud based infrastructures hold significant promise for achieving lower operational costs and faster provisioning of new application services, enterprises will need help transitioning from complex legacy environments to the cloud. The new Solix cloud enabling solutions speed the transition to private and hybrid cloud infrastructures quickly, by providing ways to consolidate data from legacy applications, enabling rationalization of applications and underlying infrastructure by moving only the relevant application data to the cloud, while other legacy applications can be immediately retired leading to significant cost take-out and achieving a simplified cloud based infrastructure.

The new Solix solutions for the cloud include:

  • Allowing enterprises to adopt a metered based pricing model for the data management services such as database archiving and application retirement;
  • Allowing enterprises to rapidly provision and share Solix EDMS in private cloud infrastructure using either software or virtual appliance models;
  • Allowing enterprises to use Solix ExAPPS Appliance as a private cloud infrastructure to store the entire data coming from legacy applications that are being retired.

Solix Technologies provides different deployment options to enterprises to either use traditional on-premise deployment or an all-in-one appliance model or deploy in private cloud.

“We are excited to announce our new offering for Enterprises moving towards Private Cloud. Enterprises are consolidating their data centers by moving disparate applications and performance-sensitive workloads to cloud infrastructure. Solix EDMS 5.0 (Enterprise Data Management Suite) can enable this transformation rapidly and reliably,” added Sai Gundavelli, CEO of Solix Technologies.

Solix new cloud offerings will be generally available with metered based pricing starting Q2 2011.
