Solix Technologies, Inc. Announces the Solix Cloud

Cloud Database Archiving and Application Retirement Solutions Provide Higher Performance and Reduced Cost over On Premise Alternatives

Santa Clara, CA – March 27, 2012 – Solix Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise data management solutions (EDM), today announced Solix Cloud, a high performance, archiving and application retirement solution for enterprise applications and databases. Solix Cloud is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution to securely archive and retire enterprise applications. John Ottman, executive chairman of Solix will lead the company’s cloud initiative.

Solix Cloud helps small, medium and large enterprises solve data growth challenges and provides an Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) framework to manage the risk and complexity of storing vital information. By storing all archived data on tier 1 media all the time, and by leveraging flash solid state disk (SSD) technology, Solix Cloud provides faster performance and improved access compared to traditional tiered storage solutions deployed on premise. Solix Cloud is also highly secure. All archived data is encrypted and stored in a read-only, immutable format to meet data privacy and compliance objectives.

Solix Cloud Database Archiving is a data growth solution which improves the performance and reduces the cost of enterprise applications. Data is the life blood of any organization, but too much data can impact enterprise application performance and tax IT resources. Experts agree as much as 80% of the data in enterprise production databases for core applications such as ERP, CRM, and corporate financials is no longer in active use. And enterprise application performance may be impacted as much as 50%. Much of this data must be retained for compliance and business reasons like SOX, decision support and trend analysis.

Solix Cloud Application Retirement decommissions and retires outdated legacy applications. These applications consume valuable IT resources including people, floor space, power, cooling, and maintenance costs. Many of these systems have reached end-of-life status and exist only as a repository to access the data trapped inside the legacy application. Solix Cloud Application Retirement supports data center consolidation and cloud enablement projects by decommissioning legacy applications and still maintaining universal access to the data.

“There is a growing need for long term retention of structured data. As data continues to grow at an accelerated pace, IT organizations are not well setup to manage long term retention and access requirements”, according to Sheila Childs, Managing Vice President at Gartner. “A cloud based archiving and retirement solution can provide both the long term protection to meet access and compliance needs while leveraging the cost and flexibility of a cloud model. I expect to see significant demand for this type of solution.”

“Database archiving and application retirement are ideal applications for the cloud,” said John Ottman, executive chairman, Solix Technologies, Inc. “The Solix Cloud is highly secure, costs less and offers higher performance than on premise solutions.”

The Solix Cloud is available immediately. Pricing is elastic and starts at $5,000 per month and includes a flat monthly fee and a per-gigabyte charge for the data that is actually archived.
