Solix Adds Apache Hadoop to Enterprise Data Management Suite

High Volume, Big Data Solution Scales Enterprise Archiving & Application Retirement Requirements

Santa Clara, CA – April 3rd, 2014 – Solix Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of Enterprise Data Management (EDM) solutions, today announced Solix EDMS 6.1 with support for Apache Hadoop as a target repository for enterprise archiving and application retirement. As a leading big data platform Apache Hadoop enables Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) applications to scale enterprise-wide and meet the challenges of exploding data growth.

ILM solutions are traditionally deployed at the application level to improve performance, reduce storage costs and increase availability. With Apache Hadoop deployed as an enterprise archive across many applications, performance and infrastructure optimization gains are delivered enterprise wide. Archived information is stored in Hadoop as a nearline repository and secured by policy-driven access control, retention and compliance objectives.

“Big data investments in 2013 continue to rise, with 64 percent of organizations investing or planning to invest in big data technology compared with 58 percent in 2012., according to a survey by Gartner” *

Solix EDMS 6.1 with Apache Hadoop delivers a highly scalable enterprise archive platform for the following Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) applications:

  • Database Archiving: Improve application performance, reduce storage costs, improve availability, meet compliance objectives and run production databases at peak efficiency. Solix EDMS supports policy driven data retention, archiving and purging.
  • Application Retirement: Decommission inactive legacy applications and data to reduce costs and meet compliance, access and retention policies.

“Enterprise ILM allows us to optimize our infrastructure with data retention policies,” said Giri Chodavarapu, Vice President, Global IT of Finisar Corporation. “Archiving and retirement are a perfect use case for the big data platform.”

“Solix EDMS 6.1 with Apache Hadoop enables enterprise ILM,” said Vikram Gaitonde, Vice President of Products, Solix Technologies. “With such cost effective scalability big data infrastructure enables our customers to deploy Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) applications enterprise-wide”
